Yesterday 23rd of October 2022, the McKenzie Men’s Bowls Club had a Special General Meeting.
Part of this meeting was to vote on whether David Baker (our current Secretary), be one of the select few within our club to obtain the lucrative title of “Life Member”.
“Bakes” as he is well known around the club has been an integral part of McKenzie Park since 2007 where he has managed to fill multiple positions within the Men’s committee – including Selector, Games Director, Treasurer and ultimately the most strenuous position of Secretary where the work he does is often not seen first hand, but is always most appreciated.
We sat down with Bakes yesterday to congratulate him and get to know him just that little bit better.
What is your favourite drink?
SUPERCRISP!
What is something that only a few people know about you?
I like long walks on the beach at twilight in bare feet. The sand tickles my toes.
“Ok Bakes, this just turned around, lets leave it at that”.
David Baker required a 75% positive vote from the Men’s bowlers present for his Life Membership to be attained. The Nerang Community club representative Bob Shepherd and current Chairperson endorsed the nomination with full support from the Nerang Community Club committee.
The stage was set. It was put to vote. And in a landslide victory, 99% of bowlers present voted to immediately enter Bakes into our record books as our newest Life Member.
