Club Highlights Special Event

Week 45 2023

Everything just seemed to fit perfectly into place this week! Clubs submitted their scores on time and correctly, which means we were given the results & ladders for Summer Nines before most of us even got to have a sleep last night!

The Men’s Club has started advertising for the annual Ham Days. With 28+ hams up for grabs plus some games of bowls and a bunch of other prizes, these three days during December will fill up fast!

The first of three Ham Days at McKenzie Park this year is underway, awaiting nominations on the Main Board inside the club.

Sunday December 3rd marks the start of a fun-filled month when we take to the greens for the Random Teams, 2-Bowl Triples. With numerous hams up for grabs for placement, as well as some on offer in the raffles, this is a perfect time to secure a ham for Christmas Day.

If it’s anything like last year, there was a scrumptious spread put on and a metric tonne of laughs. There will be more hams then anyone knows what to do with.

Nominations are made by writing your name down on the Main Board. The sheet is up and it will fill super quickly, so get in! The hams themselves will be presented on the third and last Ham Day, so that saves you having to try and make room in your fridge until then!

Round 6 & Round 7 Fixtures (Double Header Weekend): https://mckenziepark.com.au/fixtures/

Wow, wow, wow! Another fantastic weekend for McKenzie Park in the Summer Nines!

Again, all three teams returning with a win. A super impressive Round 5.

At home watching White VS Broadbeach and Purple VS Musgrave Hill, it was a shakey start. Seems both teams honoured the “McKenzie Curse” getting off to a slow start. One rink in the Blue team, down 19-3 after 12 ends, returning in the second half to take the win 25-22.

Blue & White are sitting well toward the top of the table, with Blue settling at 2nd and White stable at 3rd. Purple have found their form and are crawling up the rungs each week as they manage to put it all together and show a heap of tenacity towards the later rounds of the competition.

The weekend ahead for Round 6 & Round 7 is a double header. Teams will be playing on both Saturday & Sunday and its a terrific chance to get some extra points in a short period. One team at home on Saturday and two at home on Sunday, come down and lend a cheer! The players will need that support to produce positivity as they endure the heat.

The Men’s Senior Pairs have two cracker games today at 1:00PM. Last years winners, David McCann & Peter Horne VS Peter Probert & George Holloway which will be a great game to watch. Both teams in good form and vying for a Finals position.

John Mitchell & Mark Fitzpatrick take on Rob Crewdson & Larry Bowdler which will be another riveting game!

Come on down to the club and have a look! And for those playing the double header weekend next week, get some rest! 🙂
