Apologies for the delays. The District were away up North in Mackay and had to race back home to the Gold Coast before they were able to publish the Summer Nines Round 3 results. On top of that, some clubs made a couple of mistakes on their results sheets which held things up a bit.
As you may be aware, our grass green has been taken out recently. We hope it is only out for the 6 weeks that was estimated by our green keepers, but this largely relies on the weather. So let’s hope it is back and rolling well before Max Morris Memorial and Q7’s begin.

A devastating week for our Summer Nines. All three teams lost. I was at Broadbeach with Blue and it was increasingly frustrating as the game progressed. All three rinks were playing well, but just not having any sort of luck what so ever. I find this to be one of the toughest losses, when your playing well, and you have absolutely no luck, but the opposition has all the luck in the world.
Blue went down to Broadbeach – the wind played a pivotal part in their loss, as well as the green running a bit faster than what they are normally used to. A valiant effort overall. I am sure they will be hungry to get out on our home greens this week to face Canungra.
White took a hit from Musgrave Hill, but are very much still in the race to have a strong finish to their campaign. This week against Beenleigh will be a tough match, but they are looking settled and getting in the practice during the week to make sure they return with a win.
Purple just can’t seem to make it across the line. Each game two out of the three rinks perform, but it just hasn’t been enough for them to secure a win. On paper they are a worthy team, but they just need to put it all into action on the green. Against Broadbeach this week at Broadbeach, it should be an interesting match up as they played Round 3 at Mermaid Beach, which is running relatively the same as Broady. Hopefully the weather is a bit more generous than it was for Blue and it would be nice for Lady Luck to take their side. Either way, the bonus is getting pizza for lunch after the game 🙂
Here is the list for Round 4. Some minor changes made, teams are looking nice and solid for Round 4 and it will be wonderful to see all three teams come home with a win!
