Week 42 Wrap Up 2024

INFORMATION

CLUB NEWS

Nothing can go exactly to plan when there is such a heavy reliance on the weather. Unfortunately this has been the case for our greens as the weather just didn’t want to play ball in the way it needed to for the greens to go ahead on schedule.

It’s not all doom and gloom though, it has only been a minor set back for now. It means the grass will be pushed back by about a week and the carpet renovation is now set for the 6th of November.

There has been a lot of “TBA” amongst the Fixtures page. It’s actually a very important part of the year for bowlers, but also very much on a personal level when Christmas and the New Year are just around the corner. On a bowls level, there is literally so much on at the moment as Clubs try and squeeze out their last bit of Intraclub games, but also host some of their biggest tournaments to finish off the year. That on top of intelligently planned holidays for families to avoid the shell shock of increased prices and demand come Christmas Holidays, it has all contributed to a little bit of shuffling to get games played.

We now have a date for the Mixed Pairs Grand Final and all the other upcoming matches such as the second Mixed Fours Semi Final as well as a rough date for the Mixed Fours Grand Final if all goes to plan!

GRAND FINAL

MIXED PAIRS

We have waited quite a few weeks for the Mixed Pairs Grand Final to be played. Finally we have a date set and the contenders and ripping & roaring to go!

To be played on Wednesday the 23rd of October at 10:00am, it’s a bit of a wacky time/day, but it suits the players. The benefit will be it’s also the Ladies Social day so there will be some support from them. It would be great to see some added support from spectators who have the day off, because it will definitely be a great game when Robyn Fullwood & Shane Stevenson take on Val McCallum & Maurice McCallum.

Both teams have been successful in the Mixed Pairs (obviously), but each of the individual players are all playing really well, which is going to make this game a cracker.

Good luck both teams and it will no doubt be a very tough game for both parties and well worth the watch for anyone able to make it down to the Club.

ROUND 2

SUMMER NINES

The Results for Round 2 of Summer Nines are a bit blended from this week. White put the pedal to the metal and came out with a good win over Beenleigh. Unfortunately Orange dropped the bowl and went down to Mudgeeraba though.

There are still results to come through from other teams, so it’s difficult to see where both teams currently stand on the ladders. But Whites’ win puts them up the ladder a bit and well within reach of a finals birth if they can continue to mow through their opponents in the next couple of weeks. They have quite a few home games in a row over the next few weeks after their Round 3 games VS Mudgeeraba at Mudgeeraba. If they win that they will get to play some of the top ranked teams in the comfortably of our own green which will give them the much needed advantage to topple said teams.

Orange took their second loss of their campaign to Mudgeeraba, but it looks like they are still calming into their place. A Round 3 home game VS Musgrave Hill this coming week will be a must win to get them some ladder points and build morale. They have a bit of a mixture of home & away games over the coming weeks, so the next couple of games are going to be imperative to keeping their season alive.

All Results & Fixtures are up to date. The Ladders will be updated once Bowlslink is finalized.

Good luck everyone!
