The heat has definitely set in. We had a very good taste of what’s the come over the weekend. Sweltering heat didn’t stop our bowlers taking to the grass though, especially after a rough start to our Summer Nines campaign, the teams had something to prove in Round 2!
SUMMER NINES
The Results page for Summer Nines is now up and running. You can view all the results each week as they come out, as well as the ladder, and you can also get your own copy of the Conditions of Play. Take a look: https://mckenziepark.com.au/summer-nines-2023/
After a rocky start in Round 1, all three teams set out to make amends. It was going to be a tough ask, with all three teams playing strong clubs.
Division Blue played Coolangatta at home. They were not going to let Cooly go home with the win. All rinks playing phenomenally overall with two rinks winning and one ending up with a hard fought draw.
Summer Nines BLUE – Round 2
Blue now jumps into third spot on the ladder and play Broadbeach this week at Broadbeach. This will be a good game and a great opportunity for supporters to get out and about whilst cheering our team on!
Division White had a little contiki tour out to Mermaid to play an always formidable opponent. Again though, McKenzie Park coming out of a loss had something to prove and made sure Mermaid felt the full wrath of a solid team.
Summer Nines WHITE – Round 2
At home this coming week against Musgrave Hill, you can bet your bottom dollar that White is going to come out roaring and will want to take the win and move up from fourth on the ladder into a more stable position.
Division Purple unfortunately took a loss against Southport at home. Although the overall score blew out a bit, two rinks played really well with the blokes on rink 8 – Greg Bisset, Greg Lucas & John Catlow working extraordinarily well together and displaying some fantastic bowls. John Catlow especially throwing down some absolute pearlers.
Summer Nines PURPLE – Round 2
We can probably expect to see some changes to the team this week a they jet off to Mermaid Beach and are in dire need of a win to get them off the bottom of the ladder and start racking up some points.
