The final weekend is upon us for Q7’s. After a lengthy campaign and some absolutely glorious wins and a few defeats, our teams line up this weekend to finish off the sectional play in a gigantic weekend of bowls – A DOUBLE HEADER! We hope the weather is kind, because it has been rather hot the past weeks.
The week that was for Q7’s…
Division 5 – Section 2 took a bit of a beating from Coorparoo. With a couple of players out and some not at full health, it wasn’t meant to be as they went down 9-1. They will be back in force this coming weekend no doubt to make sure they do their best to finish top of the ladder, currently holding the top spot 6 points ahead of Beenleigh.
Division 6 – Section 4 are still avalanching towards victory. Taking on Gatton and winning 75-44 in shots and 9-1 in points. You can bet your bottom dollar they are going to come out thriving on the weekend as they are joined by the Division 5’s with two home games for the double header weekend! Div 6 are pretty established and look to be the main contenders as the Section 4 overall winners for 2023 – but we better not put all our eggs in one basket! Bowls is one of the most surprising sports around!
Division 6 – Section 5 are keen as anything for the double header! They have experienced some slight injury concerns over the past weeks but put on a display when they almost levelled Paradise Point in shots 55-56 but managed to take the points for the win 9-1. Unlike our other two Q7’s teams, they will be playing both games this weekend away. But it is the game on Sunday that is going to be the stuff of legends! All season they have been a single point behind Macleay Island on the ladder. They finally get to seel their position on Sunday when they make the trip to Macleay Island to see who really is the top team for Section 5! Good luck team!!!!!
With two teams at home on both Saturday and Sunday, you have the best reason all season to come watch these games unfold! If you fancy a little trip on Saturday, the Division 6 – Section 5 will be playing Broadbeach at Broady – 10:00AM. They would definitely love some support! Good luck everyone!
Men’s Championship Singles Round 1 Sectional has finished. Multiple players out with injury but still left a soiree of talent. A big day with multiple games played for each person and a few of the games only being won or lost by a single shot! Eight players now make up the next round – QTR Finals and it will be a good show with some family rivalry going on and some veteran players vs some newcomers. Take a look on April the 2nd and cheer the guys on as we move closer to seeing who is the McKenzie Park Highlanders Men’s Singles Champion for 2023!
