Pennant – Final Four

PENNANT FINALS

Pennant 2024 is down to the Final Four in each division. The Semi Finals kick off tomorrow at 8:45am with our Div 5 and Div 6 teams travelling to Tweed Heads and our Div 7 at Musgrave Hill.

Just one sleep to go before our teams hit the greens and it’s going to be an action packed weekend!

Division 5 GREEN & Division 7 ORANGE both finished second in their divs which gives them that all important second chance if they happen to lose their first game. If they win, they get the afternoon off and will return to the greens at Broadbeach on Sunday for the Grand Final – 12:45pm.

Division 6 GOLD finished third, which means their first game is a must win, but it also means they might also have to play a second match in the Preliminary Finals.

The entire weekend is taxing, even for the younger players. It makes the first game extremely important to win as Saturday can turn into a massively exhausting ordeal and bare some effect on the teams playing in the Sunday Grand Final. There will be some tough games for all our teams but there is a great deal of experience spread throughout that will help the newer players adjust to the circumstances.

Another big bonus is there is quite a number of players who not only made it to the Finals last year, but were victorious, they will definitely be pathing the way throughout their teams to repeat last years performance.

Div 5 VS HELENSVALE

Played @ Tweed Heads – 8:45am

Division 5 GREEN came up against Helensvale in Round 2. To put it nicely, McKenzie Park got throttled. It was just one of the days where nothing came together and Helensvale took advantage of it serving a cold dish of pain taking the win 83-42 and winning all 3 rinks.

Div 5 have had that nightmare plaguing them since the Round 2 encounter. Conversation arising constantly about “if we ever face them again”.

The team has changed. It has changed players & positions, but the first few rounds are always about testing the waters. The end product for Division 5 was an extremely successful season with their only loss being in that Round 2 engagement. The element of surprise is on our side tomorrow, Helensvale best not come out thinking this is the same team!

The Pennant 2024 flag is within arms reach for the GREEN machine, and they will be throwing absolutely everything at it this weekend!

Div 6 VS TWEED HEADS

Played @ Tweed Heads – 8:45am

Division 6 GOLD is the only team from our competitors that doesn’t have the all important second chance to rely on.

Although the other two divisions will be giving it 110%, I believe Div 6 will be going that little bit extra knowing they have to win no matter what.

Div 6 beat Tweed Heads in Round 3, but only by a single point. The big difference for GOLD is they really didn’t turn up the heat until the latter parts of the competition and had some people away here and there which affected them for a couple of weeks. However, the team they have put together for tomorrow is solid as rock.

Tweed is always a different animal in Finals, but they will be facing a whole different squad with some of the late changes to GOLD bringing in some star players to add to the already stacked teams.

Another big benefit to their Finals campaign is having Div 5 at the same location, this will add to the atmosphere and give them an even bigger morale boost.

Div 7 VS WOONGOOLBA

Played @ Musgrave Hill – 8:45am

Division 7 ORANGE face the titan of all Division 7’s tomorrow. Woongoolba is known for having a immensely strong Div 7 team, so much so, that their only loss during the season was to McKenzie Park where Woongoolba only went down by a single shot.

There has been a number of changes to ORANGE in the past weeks, but a fair shuffle for the Finals which will hopefully pay dividends.

The team performed extremely well during the regular season, had a couple of hiccups along the way, but ended in good fashion with players really gelling towards the Finals Weekend.

A good confidence boost knowing they have already beat Woongoolba, some strong players returning after injury and a position shuffle by Selectors that will be favourable to the team overall. ORANGE got to play at Musgrave Hill in Round 5 and handled the green extremely well where as Woongoolba didnt get a chance to play on the greens due to the draw.

There is a contingent of players in the team who made the Finals last year but fell short and they will be hungry to achieve what they let go last year. There will be a mountain of support in the grand stand and it will be a hard match up, but ORANGE can definitely bring it all the way home this year!

We wish everyone good luck tomorrow and give it all you can! It has been an awesome Pennant campaign for 2024 and we would love to see all three teams succeed! Give it EVERYTHING Ladies & Gents! Best of luck!
