Easter Pairs concluded it’s final day today for 2023 (unfortunately). 28 teams of pairs went into a blind draw on Saturday to fight for a position in the sections allocated for Sunday.
An assemblage of players arrived early, for some, their very first time visiting McKenzie Park. With it being Easter as well as having the privilege to play in our most illustrious event on the McKenzie Park calendar, there was excitement to celebrate. But there was also a clear mind to focus on the job at hand.
The nerves settled markedly after the meet & greet of new friends and old foes, then collection of your card for the day ahead.
They set off to the greens at 8:45AM with no idea who their first opponent was, let alone the next three games throughout the Saturday. The beauty of a random draw!
As the day unfolded their were some upsets as usual as well as some new entrants who surprised the field.
Saturday ended and this was the current standings;
For the second half of Easter Pairs, the competitors knew their sections and who they were going to play.
All teams coming off an exhausting Saturday, then had to put their very best bowls into action against teams relatively comparable to themselves in skill.

Congratulations to Clinton Bailey & Peter Leon Jnr taking out the grand prize!
Happy Easter everyone! And good luck to everyone in Q7’s.
