Australian Open Catch Up 2023

Almost through the Australian Open for 2023, the games are really just about to start with some Knock Out Rounds and Finals yet to start in some great to watch disciplines!

Although our valiant members gave it there all, our Knock Out & Finals campaign rests on two Pairs.

The Women’s Pairs team of Kannika Suwannasri & Colleen Willis will be at Broadbeach tomorrow from 11:30AM. Showing great skill and class both in the AO thus far and together in recent club events, there is a great deal of hope that these two Ladies will go all the way with their great mix-up and range of shots that covers all talents of lawn bowls. Good luck tomorrow Ladies and we will definitely be seeing you there!

Our other team to make the Knock Out Rounds is none other than Clint Sheldon who has teamed up with Wayne Parks all the way from Victoria to roll in the Over 60’s Pairs. We all know the level of skill Clint possesses, but complimented with Wayne Parks they are sure to give the opponents a good taste of some bowls action as they played 3rd and Skip together in the Fours, narrowly missing out on a chance in the Finals by dropping their second round game. However, their crusade today during their Sectional showed they are ready to fire up even more – winning all three of their games with some pretty decent deficits.

Their fixture will be out tomorrow night so keep an eye on BowlsLink or refresh our Fixtures page tomorrow night to see where and when they will be playing.

I thought I might share a little secret – well, not really. But not many people even know about the Bowls Marquee situated at Broadbeach. It is jammed packed with Lawn Bowls gear. But the secret is, that this is the time of the AO to score yourself some heavily discounted stock!

As merchants near their end of the AO and pack up to go home, there will be some reduced prices on a wide range of stock! Some bowlers who travelled from all around Australia also tend to sell of their sets/bags so as to not pay exorbitant flight prices for their travel home. So if you are looking to upgrade or even sell your old sets of bowls, its a great time to get in there and get a serious bargain, or even just or a gander!
