We are so close to Easter! And that means the Easter Pairs is less than 5 days away! This will be one hell of a weekend as both Saturday and Sunday will see both the carpet and grass greens filled with competitors. With over $5,000 in prize money up for grabs, it is going to bring out the best in everyone and if you didn’t manage to secure a spot in the competition, it will be well worth the viewing as people from all over the Gold Coast and even further come to take a piece of the prize!
Q7’s draws for the finals have been released! We had to wait patiently as the mountain of score sheets were sifted through and draws done for 6 divisions and over 50 teams. We now know exactly where all three of our teams are playing and who against. What an absolute achievement for McKenzie Park to have three out of three teams make it to the finals! A massive congratulations to everyone throughout the season – not just the players (who need to be congratulated for their performance), but to all the managers, reserves, volunteers and supporters!

With Q7’s taking a bit of a break before the finals begin, it was time to get stuck into the Championship Singles. The prospect of who will be this years champion is always an interesting topic and there are quite a few of us who just cant wait to find out! But we have managed to get through the QTR Finals and the herd has thinned out. It managed to pacify my needs for a little, but now I am eagerly awaiting the SEMI Final games to be played!!!!!
With the last four players now locked in, it looks to be a rather interesting group. Last years Champion – Peter Horne is in the mix and definitely one to watch out for. Larry Bowdler lurks around the pool as well as another veteran Kevin Clark also making his way to the top four. To round off the ranks, new player, but hardly a surprise entrant is Greg Dobson. It is going to be a hell of a ride to the Grand Final and it really is anyone’s title to take. You can gaurantee there is going to be a bit of everything in these last couple of games as each participant is pretty well rounded in all aspects of lawn bowls. Good luck guys!
